This exact YouTube video is why I caught the bug. Trolling around the net one day I stumbled upon this and fell in love with the sound from this old archtop. I started researching archtops with the intent to buy. Determined that I wasn't going to settle for anything less then a quallity instrument, this was quickly shut down when I seen the price tags that went with higher end archtops. Then somehow I stumbled on Bennedetto's book on amazon and thought "You know if I can't afford to buy it, I'll save money and build it". Now I realize how completly wrong that statement is, but I have been totally facinated by it and have been working towards that goal since. Still working towards building my first but after 5 years I've not lost a bit of motivation.

I build for moments like this: my cousin discovering his new surprise guitar for his birthday!

And I build to please myself too, because that's the best hobby in the world :)

She hand-tinted the photo. I hope this picture communicates our family's love of music, and our value of music as something that brings people together.

That's an excellent photo, when was is taken?

Sorry for being boring and posting a pic of a finished guitar but that is the ultimate aim of all this lutherie business, hey? :)

Otherwise, I'd have posted a pic of a guitar shop window front. Staring at guitars through windows was how my fascination manifested from a young age.

My #2 (#1 if you don't count the one I built under supervision)...

A big "delivery day" smile like this one is motivation enough. The guitar was a gift to Tiani, the daughter of a family friend.

Sorry to revive an old thread but thanks to Todd i have recently discovered Sarah and picked out this Tom Waits cover I just love. I have been a Tom Waits for a very long time and has been a huge inspiration to me in my music. But Sarah is a new found inspiration and I really appreciate being introduced to her. The fiddle solo in this song gets me every time.
